Leader recovery segment:
Torbert recovery dr= 5, NE.
Hill recovery dr= 3, NE.
Strategic segement:
strategic dr= 1+5= 6, Leader Falls Ill
leader dr= 4+5= 9, Ewell falls ill.
Ewell is permanently removed from play, is replaced by E Johnson. Johnson is replaced by Ramseur.
Note: If you see any pictures of Ewell, from now on it's Johnson. We don't have a Johnson leader counter in our symbol set.
Ewell hasn't been well for some time!!!
Reinforcement segment:
Corse arrives in Burkeville.
Martin arrives in Burkeville.
Dearing arrives in Burkeville.
WE Jones arrives in Lynchburg.
McClausland arrives in Lynchburg.
Jackson arrives in Lynchburg.
Union's 4 replacements arrive from last strategic cycle. Gibbon is now manlevel 8.
Union has 41 total losses minus the 4 already received equals 37 for unreplaced losses. The modifier for replacements is times 3.
Union replacement dr= 6 times 3 = 18 manpower next strategic cycle.
Union special reinforcement dr= 1, Crook and Averell's units released, will arrive in 8 turns.
The best of both worlds for me, massive reinforcements are on the way and Crook and Averell are marching towards Lexington and Staunton.
This is the earliest I've ever seen Crook and Averell show up. Paul may have a real shot at Lynchburg this game. And Halleck was sure busy gathering troops from DC ... 18 manpower or 9000 men on their way!
Valley segment:
Sigel, Thoburn and Moor advance to New Market.
Breckenridge stays in place.
Scott surprises me, I thought he would advance to defeat Sigel then move back to Staunton next cycle to be ready for Crook.
Bermuda Hundred Segment:
Butler is passive so all his units build breastworks.
Breckenridge stays in place.
I think Scott is waiting to attack Petersburg next cycle when he can attack with the recently arrived reinforcements.
Depot segment:
Union places a depot build at Port Royal.
The Union Navy marker stays on the "Transport Supplies" side because a depot was placed in a landing hex.
Rebs decide to dismantle the Hanover Junction depot during the next strategic cycle.
A safe move to preserve the 15 victory points, but it does mean Scott won't have supply anywhere north of Hanover County in four turns. Paul can know for a fact that Lee will be back behind the South Anna/Pamunkey river line by May 19. Gives Paul plenty of time for the drive on Richmond. Probably about 16 turns to push for the Confederate capital (if the high Union losses hold up and Grant's army gets demoralized and gives up the active campaign on Richmond at the historical date ... June 4).
Supply status segment:
Sedgwick's VI Corps is out of supply. Wright loses a manpower, to manlevel 8.
Ammunition segment:
All units except Sedgwick's corps are fully provisioned.
Union Command segment:
Sigel dr= 3 - 1 (no major defeats in this theater) = 2, 1 command point
Butler dr= 4, fails
Sigel stays active.
Butler stays passive.
Very interesting ... we'll have our action in the Valley for a change!
VP segment:
+3 Port Walthall Junction - May 7
+3 Port Walthall Junction - May 11
+3 Port Walthall Junction - May 15
+10 Petersburg - May 11
+10 Petersburg - May 15
+3 Caroline county - May 15
+15 CSA Complete depot destroyed
+66 CSA losses
-82 Union losses
-30 Union Complete depot destroyed
Equals +10 VP, a CSA Decisive victory at this point.
But a +30 gain from the last cycle!
