Leader Recovery Segment:
Hill recovery dr= 2, ok.
Hill recovers and replaces Early. Early resumes command of II Corps.
Strategic segment:
strategic dr= 6+4= 10, Strong Union Logistics.
Reinforcement Segment:
CSA reinforcement dr= 2, 2 manpower show up. Ramseur gets 1, Martin 1.
Hunter replaces Sigel. Goodbye Sigel!
12 Union replacements from last cycle arrive. Wadsworth and Robinson each get 6.
Union has 120 total losses minus 58 already received is 62 unreplaced losses. Modifier is times 4.
Union replacement dr= 1 times 4 = 4 manpower next strategic cycle. All replacements are headed for the Army of the Potomac.
Valley segment:
Hunter, Crook, Hayes and White move to Charlottesville.
Bermuda Hundred Segment:
Terry, Weitzel, Hinks and Brooks entrench.
Beauregard, Breckenridge, Ransom, Martin, Wise, Lewis, Dearing, Echols, Warton, BH Jones and Browne attack Drewry's Bluff.
vs Drewry's: tactical +1, 36:72(36)= -1 for a +0 attack
U4 2D result, Brooks to manlevel 5.
C5 3D result, Browne and Vaughn are KIA.
Stalemate: Round 2
vs Drewry's: tactical +1, 33:68(34)= -2 for a -1 attack
C1 4D result, Dearing and WE Jones are KIA.
U3 No effect.
I had hoped to clear Drewrys and reinforce Richmond.
This is a good or bad example of a stalemate depending on your point of view. The worst thing for the attacker is to have a stalemate then get repulsed in the second attack.
Union completes it's depot at White House Landing.I had wondered if Scott would try to place a depot in the Capital with my units so close. He really didn't have much choice, his units were starting to run dangerously short of ammunition.
Supply status segment:
BR Johnson is out of supply.
Ammunition segment:
All Union units in Caroline, New Kent, Hanover and Spotsylvania and Henrico counties are provisioned.
Union Command segment:
Hunter dr= 1 - 1 (no major defeats) = 0, 1 command point
Butler dr= 2 - 1 (Drewry's Bluff)= 1, 1 command point.
Hunter stays active.
Butler goes active.

-20 White House Landing depot destroyed
Equals + 109 VP
If the game ends this cycle I'll get extra VP from being close to Richmond:
+10 Wright being in a Richmond city hex
+25 Getty, Stevenson, Griffin, Wadsworth and Robinson being 1-5 hexes from a Richmond city hex
+10 Ricketts, Gibbon, Barlow, Birney and Turner being 6-10 hexes from a Richmond city hex
for a total of +154 VP, a Union Marginal Victory. This is the first strategic cycle that the VPs for reb losses have been higher than the Union. Most of that came from the repulse of Beauregard attacking Drewry's Bluff.
Here comes the first (I hope!) end of game die roll. Union losses are 122 to the CSA's 88, checking on the Game Ends Table I need to get greater than a 6 to keep the game from ending. There is a +3 modifier for May 31 in my favor so I just need a 4 or more with 2 dice.
End of game dr= 3+1+3= 7, game continues!
Whew! I wasn't nervous until I actually had to roll for it!
Although the game should continue at least four more turns, there is no real point in continuing. Paul currently has a total of 154 VP, but by the end of the June 4 turn (the next chance the game will end), he will earn 27 additional points for control of counties and off-map boxes. So, even if he doesn't get any closer to Richmond with his infantry divisions (and he will), he would have 181 VP. That's a comfortable Union Substantive victory. Well played by both players, but in the end, Paul's greater experience with the intracacies of the Advanced Game rules paid off in a hard-earned win.
