Random event dr= 2+3 = 5, Rain (current). No effect since we had a Rain (current +1) event last turn.
Leader transfers: Sheridan to JI Gregg.
Pre turn: I plan to march Sheridan towards Ground Squirrel Bridge (what a name!) and just advance my infantry closer to Hanover Junction. If Scott defends Hanover Junction too well, I might keep advancing towards Richmond and hopefully get a march on him.
Pre turn: Still trying to set up a defense and keep my units relatively fresh. Need to shuffle some people to allow entry to Hanover and defend holes.

Looks like both sides cavalry units are getting set for a march on Richmond once the rain stops.

I just noticed that Scott left the depot unguarded, if he doesn't reinforce Hanover Junction I'll gamble with Wright and hope I get two inits in a row. First init just move Wright one hex, next init activate Wright and Getty and hope Sedgwick rolls at least a four for movement. Wright would capture the depot while Sedgwick and Getty attack Longstreet.

Ramseur extended dr= 2 ok, f2 3507
Johnson, Rodes extended dr= 1 ok, f2 3307
Gordon extended dr= 3 ok, f2 3306
Rodes just secured Hanover Junction so no more attempts to capture it for a while. If I win, this phase of the game will be important, setting myself up for a drive on Richmond. If I spread out my forces to advance on more than one front, Scott will forced to spread out as well. Maybe leave me an opening.

If I had been paying attention I would have had Warren activate the Horse Artillery. I guess the artillery will have to stay north of the Anna just in case it's recalled.

Day ends?
Grant dr= 4, day ends.
Getty and Wright forage successfully.
In the pregame neutral commentary, I said a key metric would be whether or not the Union army reached the vicinity of Hanover Junction in the May 21-23 timeframe (the same time Grant did historically). Well I think Paul has accomplished that goal officially now. And he's at least 4 days ahead of schedule. His losses are high compared to Scott's, and he has lost a depot, but overall his position is strong, especially having possession of Petersburg. Scott's ANV is still very dangerous however. Scott will need to continue to inflict significant losses on Grant without uncovering the road to Richmond.
